The Promo Tour Continues This post will cover Days 29-30

How My Writing Journey Began

Like most who loved to write, my love for writing began at a very early age. To this day, I remember creating stories, and fairytales with my Lisa frank stickers as a little girl. At that time it was just something I’d like to do. Later on in highschool, I wrote for our magazine and newsletter. And over the years had a few pieces here and there recognized by a few poetry platforms. But I didn’t take it any further for quite awhile....Why, back then I was too chicken, and honestly got way too overwhelmed by how and where I should start-that continuously pushed it off and thought of my writing as a hobby. While there is nothing wrong with that, I simply hadn’t found the passion to truly light the fuse and go after it.

It wouldn’t be until 2016, that the stars would seemingly aligned and before I would become an established and sought after content writer for over a dozen online publications; publications that include Yourtango, Yahoo, and the Thought Catalog. In 2017. I began to seriously pursue my love for poetry when I became part of the writing team for the remote publication/internship: The Coffee House Writers. I also became a contributing writer for 5 other platforms where I shared my poetry with the world.

I’ll leave the links within this post so you can check it out for yourselves ;) I have to say that being a part of the Coffee House Writers Publication has been, and still is one of the best experiences for my career and growth as a writer/poet. I credit the entire team at CHW for how far I have come as a writer/poet these last 3 years. Fastword to 2021, and I am about to launch book one of a 4 book poetry series of MY Work! I am so excited to finally take this leap as an independent author/poet. It is really something truly amazing when the fuse inside if you finally meets your passion, and you overcome your fear and just go for it!  You can Check my work by visiting my portfolios on the site, and you can go to www.coffeehousewriters.com and take a look for yourself at the incredible supportive, creative, and talented group of writers there. Amd don’t forget to mark your calendars for my debut release of book one: Why Can’t I Love You? A Love Story In Poems, coming march 19th 2021.

Sharing My Self-Publishing Journey So Far With All Of You- Promotional Day 14 Continues With My Thoughts On The Indie Writer World So Far...

This journey in my opinion, can be summed up in these  four words: "Learn As You Go." I  also believe that; that the roadmap to anyone on the indie artist journey is unique, and everything we do ro naviagte our way through is our own experience to have and share with others. So here it goes. While I agree with planiing and research is key no matter they type of writer you are, I think there will also be a lot of editing in that process as well. As most of you know. I originally was going to publish with lulupublishing.com, but it turned out to be the weong fit for me. So, the very first lession I have learned is the Lesson of Research V.S, The Actual Experience . The truth is you could research until the cows come home, byt the only way you know if something is right for you is if you have the opportunity to experience do it!

Two Plan and stick to a publishing schedule. The blessing in this process for me is getting a do-over when it comes to really puttung thought into the type of schedule I wantred to create form myself, to help me stay on task.  Here is where I also like ro make an obvious note on how important it is on giving yourself enough time to make the needed changes no mater where you are in the process of writing your book or books. You should never assume things will go without a hitch. Plan For The Hitches. That's why I have a tip dor you, plane all your dates with plenty of space inbetween them to give you and your tram, editor, cover designer, formatter enough time to do their jobs. This is also where you want to be flexible and your schedule at this point should reflect this too.

You shoukd also keep this in mind when you begin any and all planing for the promotional side of the process why? Because life happens, and it doesn't care about schedules. The indie artist life is not a competirion.   Celebrate your fellow indie artists' success, and remember the journey is one we all take together-let's not make it difficult by allowing our insecurities get invloved, and make it harder for any of us. Be open to learning from others in the boat with you, and take the Criticism and learn with it, Critism Is a great tool in the indie world in my opinion. Here's Why. if it comes from a negative view, then you as the artistic to turn it into a positive.  And most of the time, you learn a lot about yourself as an artist, and as a person. Welcome it, and learn from it.

And lastly, I have learned that the wrong way, or wrong choice can lead you to the right way, and give you another filled space in your book of "lessons learned so far." I hope this helps anyone thinking about entering the indie artist arena. Peace & Love-

The Promotional Tour Continues!

Day 04 Four Of The Promotional Tour Continues A Special Trailer Made with Canva.com (music included.) The themes In this series, deals with life and the interwined themes and emotions. Love, loss, pain, heartache... I know that thoes themes can come across as extremely heavy, that is why I chose the pieces I chose for book one because I feel each one will hopefully make the reader feel touched by hope, and faithfulness once they finish reading it. Because we could all use some hope and faith to hold onto no matter what maybe going on around us.

Peace & Love,

Day 3 Of The Promotional Tour For WCILY? CONTINUES WITH A NEW EXCERPT FROM BOOK ONE

The Poem Save You while it is one of the shortest pieces in the book itself, it is also a personal one for me. I know That we have all been there-the feelings of helplessness when we watch someone we love in pain, and there is nothing we can do to make the situation better for them. This is a constant theme  for some (I can relate.) But I also wanted to show that often the person can only hope that the love that they have for the one suffering would be enough to help them manage whatever they are facing and do so together as best they can

Side note: The graphics used in this video came from canva .com, and pixabay.com .

A new newsletter can also be read on the site itself.

See you all tomorrow!

Promotional Week Continues With Another Excerpt From The Poem, The Mountain In The Sky

The  Mountain In The Sky is one of thoes pieces that was inflused by music I heard at the time. Crusing Youtube that day, and their lyrics inspired this poem. Which is one of the main influences for my writing process. It could literally be anything, and I mean Anything! This is also why I am so incredibly excited  for you all to read book one! Thank you all for the continued support!

Peace & Love,

Promorions For Book One: Why Can't I Love You? A Love Story In Poems. Has Officially Kicked Off!

To Start The Promotional Tour For Why Can't I Love You? A Love Story In Poems Book One I wanted to share an excerpt from one of my favorite poems that I have written, and knew right off the bat that the poem HAD TO BE A PART OF MY SERIES. The poem is called, The Hum And Cut Of Heartbreak. A little background  on this poem for all of you, this poem is based on an assimments in my online poetry class at the time, where we had to descibe our emotions using only our sences-touch, feel, smell, and hear. This poem is also one of my favorite fictional (as far as the picture I draw with it goes.) My emotions were also very present-flowing out as I wrote this particular piece. Which is also another reason why I love this one. There was no hesitance, or thought just free-flowing emotion. I am so excited for all of you to read the series in general. This series is definitely turning out to be a labor of love for me, and it is my hope that by the time book four is out,all of you would have embraced this series with love, and appreciation for the poetry world in general. Stay tuned, exciting things are on their way!

Peace & Love,

Jessica
